Never waste a real beer on an unwelcome guest

Here's one more reason why you shouldn't get drunk and break into somebody's house.

The Bangor Daily News reports that an allegedly drunken Ellsworth, Maine, man broke into a Bar Harbor home, but then accepted a beer from the homeowner as incentive to leave.

If the housebreaker had been sober, he might have realized the homeowner had offered him a nonalcoholic beer.

I wonder if the homeowner was thinking, 'I want this guy out of my house, but there's no way I'm parting with the real stuff.'

Still, that housebreaker got better treatment than the armed intruder in Machias, Maine, who was escorted from a home by a gun-wielding 77-year-old woman named Doris Gatchell.

The Bangor Daily News reported that Doris Gatchell's daughter, Eileen Newman, said Monday that family members had since nicknamed their mother "Annie Oakley."
