I always thought Mary Ann was the good girl on Gilligan's Island.

Now, thanks to this shocking photograph from the Teton County, Idaho, Sheriff's Department, I wonder if I've been all wrong about Mary Ann. She's apparently been engaging in activity we might have expected from her racier sidekick, Ginger.

Here's how the Associated Press starts its story:

"Perhaps they should have called her Mary Jane.

"A surprise birthday party for Dawn Wells, the actress who played Mary Ann on "Gilligan's Island," ended with a nearly three-hour tour of the Teton County sheriff's office and jail when the 69-year-old was caught with marijuana in her vehicle while driving home."

Mary Ann, er, Wells pleaded guilty to reckless driving, and she was sentenced Feb. 29 to five days in Jail, fined $410.50 and placed on six months' unsupervised probation, according to the Associated Press.

The arresting deputy sheriff said he found four half-smoked joints in her car. But as part of an agreement with prosecutors, charges of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance - were dropped, the Associated Press reports.

Could they really be talking about our Mary Ann?

I shudder to think what we might find out about the Flying Nun.
