A story in today's Journal and projo.com reports the disturbing news that animals, including household pets, expose us to lots of diseases and infections.

It doesn't mention that the family dog can subject us to an increased risk of getting shot during the holiday season.

That's what reportedly happened to two guys in Louisiana after a dog damaged Christmas decorations outside a mobile home.

In a move that won't be mistaken for goodwill toward men, the woman of the mobile house allegedly shot the dog's owners during an argument over the damage.

The woman faces two counts of attempted murder and illegal use of a weapon.

The men will survive their injuries, but they might want to keep their dog inside until after Christmas.
