The state Department of Transportation this week suggested that signs could help alleviate rush hour traffic jams on Route 95 south and Route 195 east. The suggestion got my colleague Bill Murphy speculating what the signs might say. Here are a few ideas from Murphy, a staff photographer: "Hope you're not in a hurry." "We screwed this one up." "Dinner will be late." "If you didn't want to go home, you wouldn't have this problem." Murphy's proposal got Peter Phipps, a former Business editor, considering the marketing possibilities. "Books on tape, courtesy of DOT," Phipps suggested. Of course, I have to chime in with ideas of my own: "If you didn't live here, you'd be home by now." "You'll be home for Christmas." "Don't worry, your kid will get over your missing his game -- some day."
