Time to stand up for the air-travel rights of women in short skirts

I was initially amused by reports that two airline passengers had been told to cover up by Southwest Airlines employees who considered their outfits too skimpy.

(See stories and photographs of the women and their 'offending outfits: 'Southwest fashion police set no-fly zone' and 'Too hot to fly'.)

But then I realized that if we let these out-of-control airline employees bother scantily-clad women, who's to stop them from hassling us next?

If they can take issue with a short skirt or low-cut dress today, what's to stop these fashion police from objecting to a poorly matched shirt and tie tomorrow?

We men sit in silence at our own peril.

I'm unlikely to wear a skimpy skirt onto an airplane (or anywhere else, you should know), but what's to stop some officious flight attendant from someday taking offense at my spaghetti sauce-stained shirt?

I don't want to end up bumped from a flight, stranded for hours in some Midwestern airport, afraid to use the bathroom out of fear that Sen. Larry Craig is on the prowl.

Yes, it's time to take a stand and support any and all attractive women who want to wear skimpy outfits on airplanes. I'm even willing to sit between them on cross-country flights.

It might be the one thing that can numb the pain of air travel.

I thought SW was the friendly airline. I can't speak for everyone, but short skirts sure make me happy.
