Want to lose weight? Dump your chubby friends and surround yourself with beanpoles. That's my take on a new study reporting that obesity is "socially contagious." The study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, finds that people with fat friends, spouses or family members are more likely to get fat themselves. Headline writers all over the world are having fun with the study's conclusions.
